Quick USB ORP Sensor
The Quick USB ORP Sensor measures the ability of a solution to act as an oxidizing or reducing agent.
Reduction reactions regulate the behavior of many chemicals in drinking water, wastewater and aquatic ecosystems.
The reactivity and solubility of critical elements in living environments depend to a large extent on the redox conditions.
ORP sensor values are used as well as pH values to determine water quality.
For example in a pool water usually has a pH of 7.2 to 7.6, the ORP sensor should have values above 700mV to neutralize unwanted organisms.
In contrast to aquatic ecosystems this value should be lower in order to support aquatic life.
In general, ORP sensor values when exceeding 400mV are hazardous to aquatic life.
