Jacob’s Ladder
Jacob’s Ladder. This apparatus is built to show an electric arc that rises between 2 vertical conducting bars which are placed close together at the bottom and narrow at the top. Once the arc reaches the top of the bars (ladder) it vanishes and another is generated at the bottom and the cycle repeats.
– Internal power supply build into the base.
– Approximate voltage between the two electrodes is 15,000 volts (which is enough to ionize the air between then and turn it into plasma).
– Electrodes are contained in a poly carbonate tube.
– Minimal current is applied (a few micro-amperes)
