Litmus blue paper is used to control acidity as it turns red in an acidic environment and red litmus paper is used to check the alkalinity of a solution after it turns blue in a basic environment, with the color change taking place in a pH range of 4.5 – 8.3 at 25 ° C (77 ° F).
